Dr. IMRE MELLES, director and instructor

I was born on the 27th of August, 1952 and I inherited the love of waters from my father, who taught me to swim, to oar, to surf and to respect the oceans and to wonder the sunset on them.
Having finished my studies on the General Practitioner's Faculty of the Semmelweis Medical University, as a physician of the Medical Health Institute for Aviation I had to examine and consider the occupational circumstances of the professional Hungarian seamen, so I was embarked on seagoing vessels to study the facts and condition of this environment.

Having spent more than three months on board of the motor-ship Vörösmarty, on 18th of Octobre, 1990 I received a certificate of appreciation for my work at sea, undersigned by the master István Papp. During the years I was embarked on board of different seagoing vessels with Seamen's Book, i.e. ms Radnoti, Ms Csokonai among them.

Recognizing my maritime knowledge and experience I have been accredited by the Committee of Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Seafarers, of the General Inspection for Transport, and by the same institutes from Norway, UK, and the USA as well.

In Hungary, I am the only medical doctor who participated on the International Training Course for Instructors Model Course nos.6.09, organized by the International Maritime Organization.

Based upon my more than two decades experiences as 'ship's doctor'- with the approval of the International Maritime Organization and with the legal authorization of the National Authority for Transport,- I am the only authorized in Hungary to perform 'special medical first-aid on waters' training, and to train Seafarers in accordance with model courses IMO nos.1.13.,1.14.,and 1.15.,controlled by the International Maritime Organization as well.

Official Registration Number of my license for training adults is 01-0362-04.

I gave account thoroughly of my experiences as a Hungarian ship's doctor on the international congresses titled The International Symposium of Maritime Health.

So, I refer affectionately to both professional and pleasure-purpose Seafarers. It is a great honour for me to make a good use of my several years' knowledge and experiences as ship's doctor in order to care the health of the Seafarers.
